How we work

One accountable prime. Proven local partners.

Nexus is the prime contractor and is responsible for the result. Our teaming partners are established local small businesses that perform the field work under a written agreement.

From requirement to completed work

Match the right partner

For each requirement, we select a licensed, insured partner with a proven record in that trade and that area.

Plan and price

We build the staffing plan, schedule, QC plan and price together, so the proposal reflects real capacity.

Manage the work

Nexus schedules the work, processes base access, coordinates with the COR and keeps the paperwork on time.

Inspect and report

We inspect completed work, log the results, correct deficiencies promptly and report to the government.

Compliance, in plain language

On a small-business set-aside, the prime contractor has to do a real share of the work itself. The rule is FAR 52.219-14, Limitations on Subcontracting.

  • Services contracts: no more than 50% of the amount the government pays can go to subcontractors that are not similarly situated small businesses.
  • Specialty trade contracts: the limit is 75%, not counting the cost of materials.
  • Similarly situated partners: work done by a small-business partner that qualifies under the same set-aside counts toward Nexus’s share.

We plan each team to meet these limits before we bid, and we keep management, quality control and the government relationship in house.

Our quality control approach

Written QC plan

Each contract gets a QC plan tied to its performance standards, with clear inspection frequencies and responsibilities.

Inspections and records

Scheduled and random inspections, a location-by-location log, and before-and-after photos where they are permitted.

Fast correction

Deficiencies are assigned, corrected and re-inspected quickly, and the COR is kept informed.
